Final Thoughts: The Ordinary AHA Peeling Solution

So it's been a couple months since I first started using this peeling solution from The Ordinary skincare line and I'm ready to share my final thoughts with you all. Please make sure you've read my first impressions post before you continue reading this post by clicking here. If you're up-to-date, please continue reading! I'll admit I haven't been using this peel on a regular basis recently but my reasoning is because I didn't need to. Prior to my first impressions post, I had used this peeling solution twice. Since then, I have only used this product 4-5 more times. I did not use this product at all in February!

The results

My main skin concerns are congestion in my t-zone and scarring and I think its safe to say that this product has effectively helped fight these two problems! I felt like all the ingredients in this product were active. The AHA was exfoliating my skin and leaving me with a brighter, smoother and radiant complexion. The BHA really helped with pore congestion and helped rebalance the oil production on my face. The vitamin B5 ensured my skin wasn't irritated and amplified my complexion the day after using the peel - amazing! Most skincare products usually have one dominant ingredient which overpowers the efforts of the others so I was impressed to see that all the ingredients were working together to provide the best results.

My skin is practically free from scarring and I feel a lot more comfortable wearing a bare face instead of feeling like I need to wear concealer to hide my scars. This peel is very thorough and really leaves me free from impurities and has the ability to retexturise your skin. I haven't come across other exfoliators or masks that are able to provide me with results this quickly or effectively.

Considering this is a chemical exfoliant, it did not irritate or dry out my skin at all. Having said that, I do not have sensitive skin/acne - in these cases, you are advised not to use this product. Another thing to note is that your skin's sensitivity will increase when using this product so as always, make sure you wear SPF!! You should be wearing SPF daily but if for some reason you don't, you must wear SPF daily for a week after using this peel.

Would I recommend this product?

YES! I would highly recommend this product if, like me, you suffer from scarring or pore congestion. To see the best results, I think you will have to use this product consistently for a month. It's recommended to use this product only once a week so after 4 uses you may see more dramatic results. If you are looking to add an exfoliant to your skincare regime, then I would recommend this over physical exfoliators because this peel provides longer-lasting benefits for your skin. I still have a lot of product left and although I don't feel like I need to use this regularly, I will use this as an occasional pick-me-up if I feel like my skins condition changes.

To my knowledge, there isn't one product on the market that's this cheap (£6.30) yet provides you with such professional, quality results. Extremely impressed with this product and brand for providing a huge range of high-quality products at such an affordable price point!

The downside to this product is that at the end of the day, you are using a chemical on your skin so if you do have any 'fresh blemishes' then it's best to stay away from this as it will cause irritation and inflammation. Even though the in-store sales assistant said it's okay to use if you do have blemishes, you really need to use your own judgement and do what you think is best for you. Applying this product needs to be taken with precaution and please do a patch test before you commit to using this all over your face.
